Jan 04, 2018 · Bumping this thread. Anyone else try the new Asus "AiMesh" firmware yet, preferably on an AC68U/R? Still debating. I like Shibby Tomato, it works well for me, and if I really, really, wanted to, I could enable WDS or Wireless Bridging with Tomato. But I like the idea of a "quick handoff" between mesh nodes.

Aug 12, 2017 · The 2nd Asus was replaced with no additional hardware. So still the same Modem and Power Strip. Those two things are the only constants. I still have the 1st Asus with its box and power supply, as well as the 2nd Asus's box. I checked to make sure that I did use the new power supply that came with the 2nd Asus.

The RT-N66U and RT-N66W are the same except U has a black case and W has a white case. The RT-N66R is the same as the RT-N66U. It is simply a repackage for retail sale. Please notice that due to Broadcom BCM47xx driver limitations wireless support is sketchy.
